WINEMAKER’S NOTES

MacAngus 2020 is from Popham Lane Farm’s flavourful Black Currant harvest of 2020. The fruit was harvested at the peak of ripeness and flavour, and this shows in the quality of our award-winning wine. An undertone of complex earthiness yet fruity and delicious, the wine tends to the flavour common to Black Currants, without being overwhelmingly earthy as the fruit itself often is. Hints of Saskatchewan terroir, smoothness of oak, and the suggestion of flavour of preserves all contribute to the complexity that is Black Currant. Aged over 1 year, this wine has developed further and retains its smooth fruity nuance.

FOOD PAIRINGS/SERVING TEMPERATURE

Robust meat dishes such as ribs, pizza, bbq pork; flavourful cheese, and main dishes. This wine is best served very slightly chilled or at room temperature to develop the complexity inherent in Black Currant wine.
