Winemaker’s Notes

The 2019 growing season had plenty of rain but was suboptimal for sunshine. Saskatchewan also saw a prolonged spring with below average temperatures. The German Wine Rhubarb grew abundantly with good colour and intense flavour and was harvested in mid-June. It was fermented cold, at between 14C and 16C, with a unique yeast called Oenoform Freddo.

Tasting Notes

Loch Aline 2019 presented early with tropical fruit notes and crisp grapefruit accenting the German Wine Rhubarb’s mildly acidic profile. Aromatic and crisp, Loch Aline is pleasant and has the freshness of clear spring water.

Suggested Food Pairings

Loch Aline 2019 should be lightly chilled. It’s bright citrusy flavours pair well with spicy dishes, shellfish and extravagant desserts. We also recommend enjoying a glass any time with friends.
